Review: MUA Professional Eyes Primer

Bonsoir mesdames,

MUA is the cheapest brand of make up available in the UK. A lot of their items are £1 and their professional range is in the £2 to £5 per item range. Until recently I didn't try any of their products as the brand wasn't available in my local Superdrugs. Since they're finally stocked there, I have tried a few things and to be honest, some of it is pretty good even if there are some lesser quality items.

I used to use Too Faced Shadow Insurance and the tube lasted me ages, I now use Urban Decay Primer Potion and I don't like it as much and it seems to run out so much quicker!Anyone else found this?

I picked up the MUA Professional Eyes primer on a whim because it was £3.50 and that even if it was rubbish, then it was only £3.50.

It comes in a black tube with a small sponge applicator. I like this a lot more than the squeezy tubes!

The texture is more similar to the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, it is a bit more 'runny' and spreads out really well on lids. On its own, it evens out pigmentation on the lids very well.

Now obviously packaging and price are all well and good but what I/we want in an eyeshadow primer is to make eyeshadows more intense and to make them last longer on the lids.

Well, longevity wise I am very very impressed. No we're not talking 16 hours, but a good 8-9 hours on my very oily lids so for 'normal lidded people' that should be amazing. It takes me through the part of the work day where I have to be in front of people and doesnt crease all that time, I'm happy with that.

The intensity bit is not as good as the more expensive primers but it does hold its own. It won't make your eyeshadows  much more vibrant but it won't dull them either.

All in all, this is a brilliant buy and I'm actually using this every day now instead of the primer potion which I keep for brighter colours/ evenings out etc...

Do you know any other budget friendly primers?

  1. Sounds so good! Haven't tried any of the primers you spike about, but now that India has a Sephora, I hope to try out some of these soon! I live on MAC paintpots as primers. Actually, I don't do much with eyes except for some eyeliner and mascara, so it's okay, lol!
