I only use liquid foundations, it's a matter of texture. I don't particularly like powder on my face and absolutely hated the one cream foundation I tried.
Exhibit A:
| That's not even all of it! Mea culpa! |
As the title suggests, I like mixing foundations, I do it a lot when seasons change to get a better colour match and also it ensures I use all my foundations rather than favouring one at a time. My skin has been funny lately or maybe I have and what I used to think looked great, just doesn't quite cut it anymore so I mix it up, literally.
Here are my favourite combos:
- Maybelline BB cream and Dior Nude Skin: I love Dior Nude skin foundation...but it is a little bit difficult to blend. Just adding that tiny bit of the BB cream makes it more blendable but without losing any of the colour.
- Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and Bourjois 1.2.3 perfect: I've turned into a bit of a Bourjois foundation fiend lately. This gives me more coverage than just the Healthy Mix on its own, while the 1.2.3 perfect foundation helps make sure my T Zone doesn't get too oily.
- Origins Vitazing tinted moisturiser and Chanel Pro Lumiere: When I'm after quite full coverage, Pro Lumiere on its own is great. However , adding a tiny bit of Vitazing to it, makes it just that tiny bit sheerer and easier to wear.
- Make up for Ever HD foundation + MAC Matchmaster foundation: Same idea as my second combo but provides more coverage.
- Chanel VitaLumiere Aqua +MAC Studio Fix Fluid: This combination gives me the most exact colour match, medium coverage perfection.
Do you make your own mix too? Any good powder/cream foundations recommendations?
I only sometimes mix foundations, but it's usually the exact same thing but different colors to get the best color for me. I'm not sure on your skin type but I love maybelline dream matte liquid foundation, and the matte mouse foundation. Both give amazing coverage!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, I'll have a look!
Deletethis is quite a good idea, I only mix foundation for colour purposes usually but maybe I should do more to get the best of both worlds? x
ReplyDeleteThat's why I like mixing them x
DeleteA few of my friends do this to get their perfect foundation, its a really good idea. The best foundation I've found so far is Estee Lauders Double Wear foundation. It is hard finding the perfect consistency though with foundations, it's so easy to waste so much money trying to find it x
ReplyDeleteI've only got the double wear light version. But curious about the proper one
DeleteI don't really mix - except that I occasionally mix two shades of the same foundation to get a better match, very boring!
ReplyDeleteNot boring when you know what works for you!
DeleteI love mixing foundation to give me the perfect colour and coverage!
ReplyDeleteLove you blog,

A glad it's not just me!
Deleteso great, love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI really like mixing a little bit of Healthy Mix in with my MAC face & body in the cooler months, it gives a little extra coverage and the perfect colour match. Great post lovely!

Face and body has always been too dewy for me! Now my skin is more normal, sounds like a good combo!
DeleteI mix my foundation too to get the perfect color.
ReplyDeleteGreat Post.

Inreally like doing that!
DeleteSometimes I do this too! It's kind of fun-like an experiment. :) But I'm a powder foundation girl at heart!
ReplyDeleteI need your powder expertise!
DeleteOoh I really liked this post! Really good idea to share your best combos :)

Thanks Hun!
DeleteWow, that's some foundation stash you have!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only mixing I do is my foundation and moisturiser to get a tinted one...lol. But now, seeing ur recommendations, I'll try mixing my Vitalumiere with studio sculpt.
I know it is bad! Yay inspiration!
DeleteI think I may give mixing foundations a go. I getting a bit bored with the ones I have so this will kind of give me a different finish to try without buying one. Great post hun. x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely something to get out of the rut!
DeleteThis is such a brilliant idea, I have so many foundations that just don't work for me for one reason or another, I never considered mixing them with something else to try and get them to work! I'm definitely going to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely one way to make your stash work for you!
DeleteGreat post! I don't think I mix as often as I probably should. At the moment, most of my foundations are too dark and it's making it difficult to use them up. I'm in a bit of a dilemma though as I swore that I wouldn't buy anymore until I finished up what I had but I think I might *need* to buy a light/white foundation in order make the ones I'm trying to use up, wearable. Do you fancy giving me permission to go ahead? ;) xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha most definitely!
DeleteLOVE all the information and so glad to hear your likes and dislikes. I am eager to try the BB Cream myself so thanks again for posting this.

It really is brilliant!
DeleteWOW! Look at that stash! I'm not a foundation person at all! Only tried the MAC Mineralize spf 15 in the past and use MAC MSF natural. A lot! Thats all!:P
ReplyDeleteI didn't use to be but then it becomes addictive!
